Entry-Level (~$60,000 – $90,000)

An entry level pontoon is going to have anywhere from a 115 to a 150 horsepower engine and either a mechanical or hydraulic steering system. It will feature a manual bimini top and plush interior seating without being over the top fancy. Speeds on a boat like this will often top out at 30 to 38mph, depending on engine band and size. 

Mid-Range (~$90,000 – $140,000)

Often featuring a 200 to 250 horsepower engine, the steering system in a mid-level boat needs to be able to handle that much power. You’ll expect to find hydraulic or power steering systems in these boats, with the power steering essentially feeling like you would driving your car. The plush interior will also often be upgraded with built in armrests to the loungers and a raised helm. Capable of hitting 34 to 44mph depending on the size and brand of engine, these pontoons are more than capable of towing tubers or skiers. 

Premium (~$140,000+)

Exactly what you would expect, premium tritoons pull out all the stops. With 300 to 500 horsepower engines, and occasionally twin engine setups, power steering is an absolute must. The interior will feature high-end audio systems, power towers and bimini tops, lighting packages and the plushest seating. Reaching top speeds of 45 to 65mph depending on engine setup, these pontoons can rival some of the most common skiing and tubing boats.
